Gilgamesh  (a.k.a. "The Forgotten One;" real name unrevealed)

Former member of the Avengers (thirtieth recruit), apparently deceased.

An obscure, supremely strong adventurer from the secret race of immortals known as the Eternals, the warrior now known as Gilgamesh is a wanderer whose exploits form the basis of many ancient heroic myths and legends.

In modern times, he was known to his people as The Forgotten One, banished to an isolated sector of the Eternal city of Olympia for some past transgression, and was later known by the title of Hero when he came out of seclusion to fight for his people.

More recently, he adopted the name of Gilgamesh when he ventured into the outside world to battle demonic monsters who invaded New York during the "Inferno" crisis.

In the process, he allied himself with Captain America, who was then gathering new recruits for the Avengers. Gilgamesh agreed to join, but his membership was cut short by near-fatal injuries at the hands of the Lava Men.

After a period of convalescence, Gilgamesh resumed his association with the Avengers, but only on an infrequent basis as an inactive member.

More recently, an inexplicably elderly and frail Gilgamesh was seemingly slain by Neut during the crisis known as "The Crossing"; however, the events of the Crossing have since been exposed as a massive hoax perpetrated by Immortus, so whether Gilgamesh is truly dead remains to be seen.
