A Celtic mystic who had previously aided the Avengers against the Fomor, Doctor Druid helped free Avengers Mansion from its occupation by the fourth Masters of Evil and applied successfully for Avengers membership shortly thereafter. 

     Druid soon fell under the mental control of Ravonna (a.k.a. The Temptress, Nebula-Kang and Terminatrix), who used Druid's mental powers to manipulate the Avengers into aiding her search for an ultimate weapon. 

  
     To this end, Druid mind-controlled the other Avengers into electing him chairman, but the Avengers soon discovered the plotters and opposed them in a conflict that ended with Druid and Ravonna being lost in the time stream. 

     Druid eventually escaped, free of Ravonna's influence, and renewed his association with the Avengers in hopes of mending fences with the group. 

     For a time, he led the occult adventurers called the Shock Troop and later served with the Secret Defenders as the team's puppet leader under the auspices of Doctor Strange, but he ultimately deserted both groups. 

     He ultimately embarked on an obsessive quest to augment his magical powers, one which eventually led to his death at the hands of Hellstorm's agent Nekra. 

     Druid was briefly resurrected by the Grim Reaper along with several other deceased Avengers in order to attack the living Avengers, but he and the other dead Avengers regained their free will and turned on the Reaper before returning to their respective afterlives.
