The Avengers Roster: L
By Sean McQuaid

Complete descriptions of each individual's affiliation with the Avengers are detailed below.

Lang, Scott (Scott Edward Harris Lang): See Ant-Man [II]
An electronics technician who had worked on the Avengers Mansion security systems on behalf of his then-current employer Tony Stark (Iron Man), Lang later became a superheroic ally to the Avengers after adopting his costumed guise as the new Ant-Man.

Latham, Jorge:
Former mechanic, Avengers Compound. A brilliant mechanical engineer and designer, Latham met and befriended Avengers veteran Hawkeye when they were both employed by Cross Technological Enterprises (CTE), where Hawkeye served as security chief. During their time together at CTE, Latham designed and built a "skymobile" or "sky cycle" to serve as Hawkeye's one-man aircraft, a design later licensed to the Avengers for use in constructing their fleet of sky cycles. When Hawkeye discovered that much of CTE's management and many of its employees were secretly engaged in illegal activities, CTE turned on Hawkeye and tried to destroy him, but Latham, who was not connected with CTE's criminal activity, remained loyal to his friend. Later, after Hawkeye succeeded in shutting down CTE, Latham accepted a position as mechanic at the new Avengers Compound, where Hawkeye had become leader of the new western Avengers roster; however, Latham was presumably laid off along with the rest of the Compound staff when the Avengers shut down their west coast operations.

Leighton, Rachel: See Diamondback [II]
Former secretary to Captain America. A reformed criminal who was then dating Avengers veteran Captain America, Leighton was briefly hired to serve as Cap's personal secretary but soon abandoned that position. She is better known as the costumed mercenary adventurer Diamondback, in which guise she was recently mind-controlled by Baron Von Strucker and crippled by Citizen V (secretly Baron Helmut Zemo).

Lita (full name unrevealed):
Former maid, Avengers Compound. Lita served the western Avengers roster as a maid, but was presumably laid off along with the rest of the Compound staff when the Avengers shut down their west coast operations. She took an interest in Avengers member Hawkeye's personal life, sympathizing with his estrangement from Mockingbird, but was discouraged from getting involved in the team's personal affairs by fellow staff member Carlos.

Living Lightning (Miguel Santos):
Detached service member of the Avengers (forty-second recruit); former unwilling member of the Pacific Overlords. Living Lightning first encountered the Avengers as an adversary, driven temporarily mad after accidentally gaining the ability to transform himself into electrical energy. He was later recruited as an unwilling agent of Doctor Demonicus and his Pacific Overlords, but ultimately turned against them to aid the Avengers. Since there was a vacancy in the western Avengers roster at the time, Living Lightning was offered active membership and accepted, serving a relatively short stint before opting for reserve status after deciding to pursue a college education full-time. Later, Santos was among the many Avengers who battled Morgan Le Fay and participated in the post-Onslaught reorganization of the team. He has twice declined offers to rejoin the active roster, preferring to concentrate on his studies, but recently agreed to accept a detached service Avengers assignment as part of the crew manning their outer space monitor station in the asteroid belt. As the station's only current full-time resident, Miguel divides his time between monitor duty and distraction-free academic studies.

Lobo:
Partner to Red Wolf [III]; past ally of the Avengers and the Rangers; deceased. When Will Talltrees became a costumed adventurer by assuming the legendary guise of American Indian champion Red Wolf, he adopted a wolf cub that he trained to act as his partner, just as previous Red Wolves had done before him. The modern-day Lobo accompanied the modern-day Red Wolf in all his early adventures, including an alliance with the Avengers and membership in the Rangers, but Lobo was eventually slain in battle with the Bengal. Talltrees has since adopted and trained another wolf cub as the new Lobo.

Lockjaw:
Companion to the Royal Family of the Inhumans; occasional ally to the Avengers and the Fantastic Four. The exotically mutated canine known as Lockjaw is a dog with a super-powerful physique (notably the mighty jaws from which he derives his name) and the ability to teleport virtually anywhere, even across dimensions. He has long been the pet of the superhuman secret society known as the Inhumans, and in that capacity he has encountered heroes from the outside world such as the Avengers and the Fantastic Four. Lockjaw has assisted both of those groups in the past, usually through his association with Crystal and Quicksilver, two members of the Inhuman Royal Family who have also served as members of the Avengers.
